“Festival Weddings Australia creates weddings with a festival vibe as well as Pop Up Festival Weddings in and alongside Australia’s best Music & Arts Festivals, giving fun-loving couples the unique, budget-friendly option to tie the knot at their favourite festival or have a personalized Festival Wedding tailored for them. With Pop Ups, everything is organised by a FWA (Festival Wedding Planner) – the incredible venue, styling, coordination, photography and videography, live music, lighting and sound, decor and The Festival Wedding Celebrant who will craft a custom ceremony for couples to say “I do” with no fuss. Then, celebrate with friends and family in a festival setting with no set up, clean up, stress or inflated bills. The Private Festival Wedding is perfect for those who want their very own festival of love! We travel Australia wide and to bring you Australia’s only Festival Weddings!”What was your inspiration for the business?

We are a team – Shey is the coordinator and Talitha is the celebrant. We are both performers and have worked with many of Australia’s festivals in different capacities. When we were planning our own wedding, it had to be the best festival ever. We are avid festival goers and love nothing more!
We wanted a long weekend with our loved ones, with no time constraints, a wonderland of fun, music, colour, creativity and non-stop entertainment! As we were putting this together, we realised that by pooling our talents and biggest loves, we had something amazing to share with other brides and grooms.
Cost was a factor for us, as we have mortgages to service, so this factor lead us to creating Pop Up Festival Weddings! Finding out no-one had done this before, we were over the moon because we had created something truly wonderful just by following our bliss!

How did you go about starting up?

We drew up a business plan, created a website and started sharing our vision with everyone. Each person we told would get as excited as we were, so we knew we were on the right path. We contacted our favourite festivals and the rest is history!

Who books a festival wedding?

Brides & grooms from all walks of life, who love festivals!

How customizable are Festival Weddings and how do you work with each individual couple?

Each wedding is totally customisable. Talitha works closely with every couple and creates amazing ceremonies that truly reflect their individuality, their quirks, their most lovable attributes – she’s brilliant at what she does and that is what makes each ceremony so successful! With the Private affairs, our planners create the perfect wedding experience for each couple. There are so many options and no two couples are the same, so each one will look a bit different, but still have the continuity that is the stamp of FWA.

Each one will be different, depending on where we are in Australia. For instance, Island Vibe Festival is 26-29 October on Stradbroke Island QLD, so we will be having a funky beach affair, with the option of a Reception Party Palace within the festival, next to the main stage (prime viewing) and VIP Passes to access the Backstage Bar … so our couples can rub shoulders with the performers! That’s just one example of many amazing experiences that will be happening this year and next!

What do Pop Up couples have to organise?

Very little! Their outfits of course! Hair, makeup (for the ladies), who they want to celebrate with, and transport to the event.

What gets you out of bed every day?

Talitha: Shey bringing me breakfast.
Shey: my TO DO List!

What do you love about your job?

Talitha: Working with couples at the happiest time of their life is rewarding and makes me super happy! It’s awesome to really see how much love there is in this world!
Shey: Our job is all about celebrating! Does it get any better than that?

Tell us about your favourite experience as a business owner?

Talitha: There are so many! In a nutshell, watching people transform from feeling overwhelmed, to being excited. And finding their true happiness brings me so much joy.
Shey: Seeing the looks on people’s faces when they walk into our space for the first time. The shrieks of joy and big, wide smiles are always a winner!

What does marriage mean to you?

Talitha: It’s a commitment to your other that you will continue to grow together, as well as individuals. That you will always be their strongest ally. That you will support them through it all, the good times and the difficult. Marriage means compromise and requires courage and real honesty, but most of all, it comes down to open, honest and respectful communication – that is the key to it really lasting.

Shey: Marriage! When you are so in love, you want to declare it to the whole world! Of course it’s unconditional love and support; it’s a promise to always be there for your other, to share the most intimate and wonderful moments that only true love brings. It brings us so many opportunities to learn and grow, as we have a mirror who is always there to reflect us, so it’s an invitation to become better and better – the best we can be really, together.

In an Australian first, Festival Weddings Australia (FWA) gives fun-loving couples the unique, budget-friendly option to tie the knot at their favourite festival.

Stalwart festival fan and Civil Celebrant, Talitha Mitchell & partner Shey Ringham, came up with the idea as an alternative way to do weddings for those couples looking to celebrate their love in a spectacular, colourful and versatile venue.
